Emily Martinez

Associate Psychotherapist, Field Instructor

Client Care Specialist

Hi, I'm Emily

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker, and a psychotherapist at Chamin Ajjan Psychotherapy. I am licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and registered to provide TeleHealth services for those located in Florida. I earned my Master’s Degree at Monmouth University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Metropolitan College of New York. The ability to provide every individual with a unique therapeutic experience is fundamental, which is why I am constantly engaging in continuing education, training, individual and group supervision.

I am not in-network with any insurance plan.

A few words about me

As a therapist, I believe in building a therapeutic relationship that is both safe and relaxing. Therapy is a journey, and it is your journey; you are the expert of your own life; as a therapist, I want to walk beside you, not ahead nor behind. It is a pleasure to be allowed into your world, and I handle that with the utmost care.

I specialize in guiding couples towards deeper intimacy by addressing communication barriers, exploring desires, and fostering emotional connection through unique strategies and open dialogue personalized to each couple. I practice from an eclectic approach with the awareness that every individual, couple, and family’s needs are unique. Some frameworks I draw from are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Narrative therapy, Collaborative therapy, conflict resolution therapy, and Emotion-Focused (EFT). I enjoy engaging in mindfulness and creating a Zen mood. My experience is diverse as I have worked with all ages in multiple settings. I have used creative and distinctive techniques to assist individuals, couples, and families find healing and understanding in challenging situations.  “w

Why I became a psychotherapist?

I was captivated by the role of the psychotherapist at a very young age. My passion continued to grow as the years passed, and I was confident that this is what I am supposed to be doing. I am of Hispanic descent and come from a culture where therapy is stigmatized. I aim to break those barriers and make therapy welcoming. Life is too short to be caught in a cycle of bad relationships, holding grudges, letting trauma control us, or being anxious/angry all the time. I am dedicated to guide you to be free of emotional pain and to find meaning/purpose in all aspects of your life. I chose to become a psychotherapist because I believe every individual holds an essential role in this world, and seeing individuals become their best selves is a bonus.
