She/Her/Hers

Hi, I'm Kelly

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker, and a psychotherapist at Chamin Ajjan Psychotherapy.  I am licensed to practice in New York, and registered to provide TeleHealth services for those located in Florida.  I received my master’s degree in Social Work from the Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University, and my bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Tennessee.

I practice a collaborative approach with every client (individual, couple or group), tailoring therapy to meet your unique goals.  By engaging in continuing education, training, and supervision, I aim to stay informed in the ever growing field of psychotherapy.  My goal is to continually strengthen and diversify my knowledge and skill sets so that I can best serve those I am working with day to day.

A few words about me

I believe in the benefits of therapy for all persons!  My goal is to create a safe space for exploration, growth, and reflection for every individual.  We all have different histories, needs, and goals, and therefore I will always do my best to meet you where you are today.

Therapy is a journey; your journey.  I am grateful for the opportunity to help guide you through the process by utilizing techniques from various evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and others modalities, combined with building a strong therapeutic relationship.  Working from a place of trust, support, empowerment and individuality tailored to you and your needs.  I believe you are the expert on your own life and I welcome the opportunity to guide you in this process so that you are able to live a more fulfilling existence.  Something we all deserve.

Why I became a psychotherapist?

From a young age, I was often a sounding board for those around me.  It never felt like a chore, but rather a privilege to be other people’s safe space.  As a young adult I began facilitating small groups for adolescents as a camp counselor, once again creating space, facilitating conversation, and helping folks navigate problems, intrusive thoughts, feelings and self-concept.  Without knowing it at the time, I now understand that I was building a foundation for the path I would later choose as my career.  After working in various industries and trying on many hats, I found myself seeking a vocation that would allow me to help others and have a positive impact on our world. I passionately believe that in working to be our best selves, our shared experience as a community is improved.  As a psychotherapist, I am encouraged by the development each of us is capable of in our own unique way.  We all deserve to live our most authentic and healthy lives, and I welcome the opportunity to help others remove the barriers keeping us from doing so.
