She/Her/Hers

Hi, I'm Seema
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker, graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work and hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. I’m thrilled to practice psychotherapy at Chamin Ajjan Psychotherapy.
A few words about me
From personal experience, I know that therapy is not a one-size fits all and so my goal with each client is to provide custom and quality care. I believe that the client is the expert in their own life and therefore aim to empower each individual to self-reflect and overcome challenges in order to find their best path forward.
I have experience working in crisis counseling on various topics such as depression, domestic violence, anxiety, family dynamic issues, relationship stresses among others. I draw upon different modalities based on individual needs such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) as well as different theoretical approaches to support our work together.
Why I became a psychotherapist?
I truly believe that therapy can vastly improve or even change one’s life for the better. It is with this belief that I pursued a Masters in Social Work. Every individual should have access to mental health care and be able to explore and grow from past and present traumas. My aim with every client is to provide support and a safe space in which they can better understand themselves and achieve their full potential.
