Meghan Sunayna Mehta
Clinical Intern
Columbia University

Hi, I'm Meghan
I am a second year Masters of Social Work Candidate at Columbia University. I practice clinical social work and psychotherapy with individuals and groups. I have a global background which has given me a strong understanding of the importance of cultural competency. I have training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
A few words about me
I have experience working in crisis counseling, domestic violence, family defense and hospital settings. I have worked with clients of a variety of backgrounds and issues including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, family dynamic issues, relationship issues and stress of life transitions.
I utilize and have training in a range of therapeutic modalities including Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Art Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. I tailor plans for each individual client in order to empower them to better understand themselves, achieve their goals and feel more fulfilled.
Why I became a psychotherapist?
I have always been passionate about helping people, which led me to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-medical Sciences and Economics from Boston University. I worked in healthcare analytics for 2 years until I decided to follow my passion to support people in a hands-on environment through psychotherapy. I believe therapy should be accessible and available to everyone. I hope to help de-stigmatize mental health in minority communities.
