Safely develop, grow, learn and share with the support of others
You are not alone
Group Therapy is a unique way to learn from and support peers who are dealing with similar issues, normalize feelings, reduce isolation and practice new skills as you develop trusting and healthy relationships.
We create groups for clients to provide help with common challenges and share healthy, more adaptive ways to manage difficulties. It is also a great option for those seeking to supplement their individual therapy or for those with financial constraints.
If there is a group that you would like to see started, our ears are open. To share, CLICK HERE.
Melissa's Group for Female Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
This group was designed to help women understand the effects of trauma, reduce feelings of shame and guilt, and empower group members in a safe and confidential environment.
It is time to step out of the shadows and start living up to your full potential. Your sexual abuse history does NOT have to define you any more!
Female Survivors of any type of childhood sexual abuse are invited to join. I personally designed it to help women understand the effects of trauma, reduce feelings of shame and guilt, and empower group members in a safe and confidential environment. This 12-session group progresses through 3 stages: Trauma and Its Manifestations, Telling Your Story, and Empowerment. Groups are limited to 3-5 members to ensure the safety and the comfort they need to disclose difficult information.
Group members will explore:
- the effects of trauma
- maladaptive coping strategies
- emotional blocks
- support systems
- self care
- guilt, shame and stigma
- feelings of isolation
- vulnerability as a child
- healthy coping mechanisms
- developing healthy relationships
A summer group is forming now. If you would like to know more about the group or schedule a group intake, please feel free to contact me for further information.
Embroidery & CBT Group for Anxiety
Embroidery and CBT for Anxiety is a 10 session group that incorporates CBT practices such as identifying automatic thoughts, feelings, behaviors and physical reactions, challenging thoughts, behavioral activation, and naming cognitive distortions with Expressive Arts Therapy.
We will use Expressive Arts Therapy (EAT) to help promote emotional growth and healing through the creative process of embroidery. Group members will work on an embroidery project inspired by an adaptive thought that is self identified, giving them a tangible creation to help them visualize their progress. No past experience with embroidery is required.
Use a combination of highly effective, evidence-based treatments, supportive and genuine relationships, and creativity to help you get the best results.
We value training, skill, authenticity and you!
